Cet ouvrage s'emploie à montrer pourquoi une théorie psychosomatique relationnelle est possible en psycho-motricité. Celle-ci doit cependant s'ouvrir pour inclure la pathologie organique s'inscrivant dans le corps réel et relevant de la psychomotricité relationnelle. Si la psychomotricité se singularise par l'intérêt qu'elle porte à la constitution des fonctions, sa démarche ne signifie pas qu'elle doit exclure de son champ des troubles instrumentaux dus à l'inhibition d'une fonction déjà constituée. Car souvent la symptomatologie est mixte, complexe, rétive aux réductions. C'est d'ailleurs la raison pour laquelle il n'existe réellement aucune coupure, aucune solution de continuité entre la psycho-motricité et certaines psychothérapies spécialisées avec de jeunes enfants présentant, à la lisière du psychique et du somatique, des perturbations massives des repères spatio-temporels. L'unité d'une conception conduit ainsi à concevoir ce qui peut unifier des pratiques différentes.
